Privacy Policy

Zansay is built so that this policy can be short: we do not collect your data, because there is nothing to collect it with. Zansay is a macOS application that runs on your computer. It operates no servers in the dictation path, requires no account, and contains no analytics, telemetry or crash reporting.

What the app processes, and where

• Your voice. By default, audio is recorded only while you are actively dictating and is transcribed by a speech model running on your Mac. It is not transmitted anywhere.
• Your text. Optional writing-style cleanup runs, by default, on-device. Deterministic text passes (vocabulary, numbers, punctuation) always run on-device.
• Your history. Dictations are saved to a local file on your Mac with owner-only file permissions (~/Library/Application Support/Zansay/). You control retention, and you can export or delete it in the app at any time. Deleting it removes it; there is no copy anywhere else.
• Your dictionary. Vocabulary terms and learned corrections are stored locally on your Mac.

Optional cloud services

Zansay can optionally connect to third-party speech, cleanup or text-to-speech services (for example OpenAI, Groq, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Anthropic, Gemini). These are off by default. If you enable one:

• The relevant content (audio for speech recognition; text for cleanup or read-aloud) is sent directly from your Mac to that provider, under an API key that you supply. That provider's pricing and data policy apply.
• Your API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain, marked device-only, and are never synced or transmitted to us.
• The app's Privacy screen always states, in plain words, where your audio and text currently go given your settings.

Model downloads and app updates

The app makes two kinds of network requests of its own:

• Voice model downloads. When you choose an on-device engine, its model is fetched once from the model's official public host, integrity-checked on your Mac, and stored locally. No dictation content is involved in the request.
• Update checks. The app periodically checks updates.zansay.com for a new version and can install signed updates in place. The check fetches a static file describing the latest release; it carries no dictation content and no account identifier. Like any web request, it necessarily exposes your IP address and basic version information to the server.

AI training

Your recordings, transcripts and dictionary are never used by us to train AI models. They never leave your Mac unless you enable a cloud provider, and even then they go to that provider, not to us.

This website

This website is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts.

Payments

Zansay Alpha is free. This site has no checkout, and the app requires no payment details.
